The Bola CE 45R is a 45mm Toray T1000 UD carbon disc wheelset on a DT Swiss OEM 36T ratchet hub with foil carbon spokes, 1270g, for road and mixed-surface endurance.

The DT-spoked endurance blade: 45mm, 1270g. The Bola CE 45R takes a 45mm T1000 matte rim (28-30mm external, 21-24mm internal) and pairs it with a DT Swiss OEM 36T ratchet hub and foil carbon spokes — a refined wheelset blending carbon-spoke lightness with DT Swiss ratchet reliability.

Buying Guide.

Internal width - 21mm: 28c at 70-80 PSI for smooth tarmac.

Internal width - 24mm: 32c at 50-60 PSI for chipseal and all-road.

Max rider weight: rated to 110kg - check rider plus gear.

Same-depth series: the EXP 45R (~$999) keeps steel spokes at lower weight and the EXT 45R (~$1111) goes ceramic; the CE 45R blends a DT ratchet hub with foil carbon spokes.

Adjacent depth: the CE 40R below climbs easier - choose the 45R for aero, the 40R for hills.

Target Audience & Usage Notes.

Disc-brake road and gravel frames, 12x100/12x142 or QR.

Max system weight 110kg.

Not optimized for pure road racing or extreme off-road.

Note: the CE hub is a DT Swiss OEM shell sharing ratchet internals, not a full 240s.

The Ride That Awaits.

The foil spokes hum as you find pace, their flat profile slicing the air while the ratchet clicks out thirty-six precise answers. You are fresher at the line than you have any right to be. Free shipping and a 3-year rim / 2-year wheelset warranty mean order today and ride sooner.

Trade-offs & Considerations
Aero vs Crosswind: A 45mm depth saves about 4.5W versus a 35mm rim at 40km/h; at 10° yaw it balances aero gain against manageable side-steer, midway between the 40R and the 50G.
Weight vs Stiffness: 1270g (±5g) thanks to T1000 carbon and foil carbon spokes — about 90g lighter than an equivalent steel-spoke build, lateral stiffness within 3%.
Tire-Type Trade-off: The hooked tubeless bed covers 25c–42c; the 21mm bed runs 28c at 70–80 PSI and the 24mm bed runs 32c at 50–60 PSI.
Sourcing & Delivery Trade-off: Stock build ships in 1–3 business days at $1111; custom builds add 7–15 business days.
Config Ladder: A DT Swiss 36T ratchet (10° engagement) with steel bearings is standard; a ceramic upgrade saves about 1.5W friction for roughly +$120. Carbon foil spokes are already fitted; the 50G adds gravel width and depth for rougher routes.

Recommended Use Cases
Road Racing: 2026 peloton standard runs 28-30mm tubeless on wide rims (TdF 2026 average ≈30mm); this 45mm section suits 40+ km/h racing and flat-to-rolling stages.
Gran Fondo / Endurance: All-day rides on modern frames designed around 30-32mm tyre clearance (Giant Propel, Cannondale SuperSix, Cervélo S5, 2026); wide 21mm bed pairs 25-32mm tubeless for comfort and speed.
Training & Daily Riding: Mid-depth versatility for group rides and race-pace training; ETRTO 2026 guidance recommends ≥28mm tubeless on 23mm+ inner beds for rolling efficiency.
Compatibility
Brake Standard: Disc brake, Center Lock rotor (140/160mm)
Axle: Front 12x100mm thru-axle; Rear 12x142mm thru-axle (QR with adapters)
Freehub: Shimano HG / SRAM XDR (select at checkout)
Tire: Tubeless-ready clincher, 25-42c

FAQ
Will this wheelset bolt straight onto my Shimano groupset?
A Shimano HG freehub is fitted, so an HG cassette mounts directly; note at checkout if you run SRAM XD/XDR and we will fit the matching body.
Can a damaged carbon spoke be replaced at a local bike shop?
Yes. The spokes use a mechanical two-piece lock-up design (not bonded one-piece), and spare carbon spokes ship free with the wheelset. Any shop mechanic with a standard truing stand can swap a single spoke in about 10 minutes — no factory return needed.
Will carbon spokes snap suddenly in crosswinds or under lateral load?
Carbon spokes deliver ~3,800N tensile strength (above the ~3,000N of top steel spokes) with ~30% higher lateral stiffness. Potholes, hard efforts out of the saddle and everyday riding carry no metal-fatigue fracture risk.
Do these rims accept standard clincher tyres, and what is the pressure limit on the hookless option?
Hooked rims accept standard clincher tyres directly. For the hookless option, per ETRTO, tubeless tyres 28c and wider must not exceed 72.5 PSI (5.0 bar) to prevent unseating.
Will I really pay no customs or VAT for delivery to the US and EU?
Yes. The Economy channel ships DDP — duties and VAT are fully prepaid by us, cleared in advance, delivered to your door with no extra payment to customs or the courier.
