The Bola CLA 50R 700C Carbon Disc Wheelset - a versatile 50mm aero tubeless road/gravel set at entry price, built in Toray T700/T800 carbon.

Swap to a wheelset that widens your riding options: the Bola CLA 50R brings a 50mm aero rim and modern wide-rim choices so you ride fast on tarmac and confident on gravel without changing wheels. Tubeless-ready Toray T700/T800 carbon keeps mass competitive for long, mixed-surface days.

Buying Guide.

Internal width - 21mm: run a 28mm tire at 75-90 PSI for fast tarmac group rides.

Internal width - 24mm: cup a 30-32mm tire at 65-80 PSI for mixed roads.

Internal width - 26mm: settle a 35-45mm tire at 50-65 PSI on rough chipseal and gravel.

Max rider weight: rated to 110kg system - a touch lower than deeper sets, so confirm rider and gear before ordering.

Same-depth series: among its mid-depth road tier the ELT 50R adds a ceramic hub at $579, the ULT 50R adds CX-Ray spokes at $698, and the SL 50R moves to DT Swiss 350 at $789 - choose this CLA for broad aero on a budget.

Adjacent depth: the CLA 40R is lighter for climbing and the CLA 45R a touch shallower - choose this 50R when flat-to-rolling aero and a wide tire range are the priority.

Target Audience & Usage Notes.

For riders splitting road and gravel on one 700C set.

Not for heavy climbing - the depth favours flat-to-rolling speed.

Requires 12x100/12x142 thru-axles and Center Lock rotors.

Max system weight 110kg.

The Ride That Awaits.

A gran fondo that opens on smooth tarmac and dissolves into crushed limestone is this wheel's natural stage - it holds speed over the ripples and snaps back the moment you stand to climb. One set, two worlds; the ride asks you only to pick the line. Free shipping, VAT included, and a 3-year rim / 2-year wheelset warranty with crash-replacement cover mean your mixed-surface season starts the day you order.

Trade-offs & Considerations
Aero vs Crosswind: A 50mm depth saves about 5.0W versus a 40mm rim at 40km/h; at 10° yaw side-wind reaction is noticeable on open roads, so windy-region riders give up about 1.0W for the 45R's calmer steering.
Weight vs Stiffness: 1420g (±5g); the deeper rim adds about 50g over the 40R, while lateral stiffness rises roughly 5% from the taller section.
Tire-Type Trade-off: The hooked tubeless bed covers 25c–50c; the 21mm bed runs 28c at 75–90 PSI and the 26mm bed runs 35–45c at 50–65 PSI.
Sourcing & Delivery Trade-off: Stock build ships in 1–3 business days at $468; custom builds add 7–15 business days.
Config Ladder: Enduro steel bearings standard; a ceramic upgrade cuts about 1.5W friction for roughly +$100. The 54T ratchet gives 6.7° engagement; stepping to the premium 50mm series adds bladed spokes and ceramic bearings for roughly +$230.

Recommended Use Cases
Triathlon / Time Trial: IM and club TT fields reward deep-section aero; 50mm profile minimises drag on flat-to-rolling courses where aero dominates climbing.
Aero Road Racing: Fast flat road races and crits on disc frames; 2026 WorldTour teams run 28-30mm tubeless — pair the inner bed accordingly for rolling speed.
Race-Pace Training: Open, fast courses where holding aero position pays off; stable crosswind handling builds confidence before race day.

FAQ
Will this wheelset bolt straight onto my Shimano groupset?
A Shimano HG freehub is fitted, so an HG cassette mounts directly; note at checkout if you run SRAM XD/XDR and we will fit the matching body.
What actually arrives in the box — rim tape, valves, spare spokes?
Each set ships tubeless-ready with rim tape, valve and spare spokes included, so you can mount tyres and add sealant without ordering anything extra.
How does the rim handle crosswinds on exposed descents?
An optimised 50mm profile keeps steering torque predictable at 10°–15° yaw, so this aero rim stays planted on fast descents rather than being yanked sideways.
Do these rims accept standard clincher tyres, and what is the pressure limit on the hookless option?
Hooked rims accept standard clincher tyres directly. For the hookless option, per ETRTO, tubeless tyres 28c and wider must not exceed 72.5 PSI (5.0 bar) to prevent unseating.
Will I really pay no customs or VAT for delivery to the US and EU?
