The Bola PRO 40G is a 40mm T1000 carbon gravel disc wheelset with foil carbon spokes and a ceramic BL240 hub, 1170g, for lightweight mixed-terrain speed.

The climber's gravel blade: 40mm, 1170g. The Bola PRO 40G is the lightweight cadet of the PRO family — a 40mm T1000 rim, wide 30-36mm body and foil carbon spokes yielding a remarkable 1170g per set, built for gravel races where the road goes up, then sideways, then up again.

Buying Guide.

Internal width - 24mm: 28-32c at 70-85 PSI for tarmac.

Internal width - 26mm: 32-38c at 55-70 PSI for all-road.

Internal width - 30mm: 35-50c at 30-45 PSI for gravel.

Max rider weight: rated to 105kg - the lowest in PRO; heavier riders should step up to the PRO 45G.

Same-depth series: the EXP 40R (~$999) uses a genuine DT Swiss 240s hub at a touch more weight; the PRO 40G is the lightest, climbing-oriented pick.

Adjacent depth: the PRO 45G above adds aero - choose the 40G for elevation, the 45G for speed on rolling ground.

Target Audience & Usage Notes.

Disc-brake gravel and all-road frames, 12x100/12x142 or QR.

Max system weight 105kg (lower than some peers); heavier riders should consider the PRO 45G or EXP series.

Not for extreme off-road.

The Ride That Awaits.

The silence is the tell - the ceramic hub spins without a murmur, the shallow rim floats over rolling ground, and the climb you feared becomes the stretch you seek. Stand and it rises; relax and it glides. Free shipping and a 3-year rim / 2-year wheelset warranty mean the hills are already yours.

Trade-offs & Considerations
Aero vs Crosswind: The 40mm depth saves about 3.0W versus a 30mm gravel rim at 40km/h and stays calm at 10° yaw — the most crosswind-friendly gravel depth in the range; the 50G adds about 2.0W more aero for noticeably more side gust.
Weight vs Stiffness: T1000 with foil carbon spokes hits 1170g, about 130g lighter than a steel-spoke 40mm gravel build (±5g), lateral stiffness within 3%; ceramic bearings shave about 1.5W of friction versus steel.
Tire-Type Trade-off: The hooked bed accepts clincher and tubeless from 30c to 62c; the 24/26/30mm internal options favour 40–50c gravel at 30–45 PSI, and hookless-rated tyres cap around 72 PSI.
Sourcing & Delivery Trade-off: Stock builds ship in 1–3 business days at $999; custom decals or lacing add 7–15 business days and roughly a $100–150 premium.
Config Ladder: This set already runs ceramic bearings and foil carbon spokes; the main ladder is the internal width (24→30mm, about +5g for wider gravel volume) and the hub (BL 240 → DT Swiss 240 for global serviceability, roughly +$200 and +5 days).

Recommended Use Cases
Gravel Racing: Fastest-growing US/EU segment — NA holds ≈40% of the global gravel market (2026); Unbound-style endurance events reward wide 24/26/30mm beds with 35-50mm tubeless at 35-50 PSI.
Mixed-Surface Adventure: Eurobike 2026 trend toward all-road and 32er builds; this 40mm gravel platform transitions from tarmac to dirt without swapping wheels.
Bikepacking / Expedition: Eurobike/Cyclingworld Europe 2026 highlights bikepacking integration; wide beds carry 40-50mm tyres at low pressure for loaded comfort on rough routes.

FAQ
Can a damaged carbon spoke be replaced at a local bike shop?
Yes. The spokes use a mechanical two-piece lock-up design (not a bonded one-piece), and spare carbon spokes ship free with the wheelset. Any shop mechanic with a standard truing stand can swap a single spoke in about 10 minutes - no factory return needed.
Will carbon spokes snap suddenly in crosswinds or under lateral load?
Carbon spokes deliver ~3,800N tensile strength (above the ~3,000N of top steel spokes) with ~30% higher lateral stiffness. Potholes, sprinting out of the saddle and everyday riding carry no metal-fatigue fracture risk.
If the wheel is badly damaged in extreme riding, am I covered?
Yes - beyond the 2-year factory warranty, you get lifetime 30% Crash Replacement: a discounted replacement wheel without paying full price.
Which tyres should I run, and at what pressure?
On the 24mm bed run 28-32c road at 70-85 PSI; on the 30mm bed run 35-48c gravel at 30-45 PSI. The bed accepts 28-62mm.
Will I really pay no customs or VAT for delivery to the US and EU?
Yes. The Economy channel ships DDP - duties and VAT are fully prepaid by us, cleared in advance, delivered to your door with no extra payment to customs or the courier.
