The Bola SL 50R is a 50mm T1000 UD carbon aero road disc wheelset on DT Swiss 350 hubs with CX-Ray spokes, for road racing and fast group rides.

Clip in and feel the difference: where shallow wheels yield on the flat, the Bola SL 50R holds speed. A 50mm T1000 UD matte rim, DT Swiss 350s hub and Sapim CX-Ray spokes deliver a race-capable package without sacrificing durability.

Buying Guide.

Internal width - 21mm: 25-28c at 85-100 PSI for smooth tarmac sprints and group surges.

Internal width - 24mm: 28c at 75-90 PSI for rolling group rides.

Internal width - 26mm: 28-32c at 70-85 PSI for chipseal and light gravel.

Max rider weight: rated to 110kg - check rider plus gear.

Same-depth series: the ULT 50R (~$698) uses in-house ceramic hubs and the ELT 50R (~$579) below; the SL 50R trades both for globally serviceable DT Swiss hubs.

Adjacent depth: the SL 45R is calmer in crosswinds - choose the 50R for aero on flats, the 45R for confidence in gusts.

Target Audience & Usage Notes.

For road racers, TT riders and mixed-surface riders wanting DT Swiss serviceability.

Max system weight 110kg; disc frame required.

Not for extreme steep climbs where minimum weight is critical.

The Ride That Awaits.

The flat you once dreaded becomes the stretch you hunt - the deep rim eats the wind, the CX-Ray spokes stiffen for the sprint, the group surges and you surge with it. Every watt you give it returns with interest. Free shipping and a 3-year rim / 2-year wheelset warranty mean the only thing between you and speed is hesitation.

Trade-offs & Considerations
Aero vs Crosswind: The 50mm depth saves about 4.0W versus a 35mm rim at 40km/h; at 10 degrees of yaw it is noticeably more affected by gusts than a 45mm rim.
Weight vs Stiffness: The T1000 layup saves about 45g versus a T800 build at 50mm (plus or minus 5g); lateral stiffness stays within 3%.
Tire-Type Trade-off: Tubeless clincher lets you run a 28mm tyre at lower pressure for comfort and rolling resistance, but sealant needs topping up every 3-6 months.
Sourcing & Delivery Trade-off: Standard stock ships in 1-3 business days while a custom internal-width build takes 7-15; at about $789 it is roughly one-third the price of comparable 50mm DT-hub wheelsets near $1,200-1,500.
Config Ladder: DT Swiss 350 with a 36T steel ratchet is standard; the in-house BL ceramic ULT 50R cuts about 1.5W of friction; the internal bed is selectable at 21, 24 or 26mm.

Recommended Use Cases
Road Racing: 2026 peloton standard runs 28-30mm tubeless on wide rims (TdF 2026 average ≈30mm); this 50mm section suits 40+ km/h racing and flat-to-rolling stages.
Gran Fondo / Endurance: All-day rides on modern frames designed around 30-32mm tyre clearance (Giant Propel, Cannondale SuperSix, Cervélo S5, 2026); wide 21mm bed pairs 25-32mm tubeless for comfort and speed.
Training & Daily Riding: Mid-depth versatility for group rides and race-pace training; ETRTO 2026 guidance recommends ≥28mm tubeless on 23mm+ inner beds for rolling efficiency.
Compatibility
Brake Standard: Disc brake, Center Lock rotor (140/160mm)
Axle: Front 12x100mm thru-axle; Rear 12x142mm thru-axle (QR with adapters)
Freehub: Shimano HG / SRAM XDR (select at checkout)

FAQ
How does this 50mm deep rim handle crosswinds on fast descents?
An optimised 50mm profile keeps steering torque predictable at 10°–15° yaw, so high-speed descents stay planted.
Do these rims accept standard clincher tyres, and what is the pressure limit on hookless?
Hooked rims fit standard clincher tyres directly, with or without tubes. For hookless rims, per ETRTO, tubeless tyres 28c and wider must not exceed 72.5 PSI (5.0 bar) to prevent unseating.
Which tyres should I run, and at what pressure?
On the 21mm bed run 25-28mm at 85-100 PSI on smooth tarmac; on the 24-26mm bed run 28-32mm at 70-85 PSI for chipseal/light gravel.
How responsive is the ratchet when I pedal out of a coast?
The DT Swiss 350 runs a 36-tooth star ratchet for about 10-degree engagement, so power returns almost immediately after coasting - reliable and serviceable with basic tools.
Will I really pay no customs or VAT for delivery to the US and EU?
Yes. The Economy channel ships DDP - duties and VAT are fully prepaid by us, cleared in advance, delivered to your door with no extra payment to customs or the courier.
