The Bola CLA 45/50 Wave 700C Disc Wheelset - an asymmetric wave-profile aero road set for road racing and light gravel, built in Toray T700/T800 carbon.

Long road rides, fast group efforts, or mixed-surface gravel days - the Bola CLA 45/50 Wave disc wheelset is shaped for aerodynamic balance with confidence in the rough. A 45mm lowr and 50mm higher asymmetric wave profile cuts drag while calming crosswinds, tubeless-ready to ISO 4210-7.

Buying Guide.

Internal width - 22mm (the only bed offered): run a 28-32mm tire at 70-90 PSI for smooth tarmac and fast group rides, or step to a 32-38mm tire at 55-70 PSI for rough chipseal and light gravel.

Max rider weight: rated to 120kg system - check rider and gear before ordering.

Same-depth series: the ELT 450W is the gravel-wide wave sibling at $579, opening a wider channel with ceramic bearings - choose this CLA wave when your riding stays road-first.

Adjacent depth: within the CLA wave family, the round 45R and 50R rims sit alongside - choose the wave profile when crosswind stability matters more than a flat disc.

Target Audience & Usage Notes.

For road racers, gravel-curious riders, and endurance cyclists wanting one aero set for mixed surfaces.

Requires a disc frame with 12x100/12x142 thru-axle (QR adapters included).

Tubeless-ready; clincher-compatible.

The Ride That Awaits.

The wave profile tracks like a hound on a scent - steady at speed, unflustered when a gust meets the open highway. Wide-enough rims settle 28-30mm tyres into a supple arc, and the ratchet hub answers every accelerando with a flick of the wrist. Free shipping, VAT included, and a 3-year rim / 2-year wheelset warranty with 30% crash-replacement cover make this your invitation to ride further than you planned.

Trade-offs & Considerations
Aero vs Crosswind: The 45mm front / 50mm rear wave saves about 4.0W versus a 35mm wheel at 40km/h, but the taller 50mm rear adds noticeable steering pull at 10° yaw; the shallower 45mm front keeps the front end calmer than a straight 50/50 build.
Weight vs Stiffness: At about 1400g (±5g), the T700/T800 hybrid layup weighs roughly 80g more than the ELT T800 equivalent at the same depth, but trades that weight for better rough-road compliance; lateral stiffness stays within 5% of the lighter T800 build.
Tire-Type Trade-off: The hooked / hookless bed takes tubeless clinchers from 28c to 42c; on the 22mm internal bed, 28–32mm tyres at 70–90 PSI suit tarmac and 32–38mm at 55–70 PSI cover chipseal. Hooked-rated tyres keep higher max pressure, while hookless-rated tyres cap around 72 PSI for wider volume.
Sourcing & Delivery Trade-off: Standard stock builds ship in 1–3 business days at $468; a custom width or decal spec adds 7–15 business days and roughly a $80–120 premium, which is the main cost of moving off the stock build.
Config Ladder: Moving from Enduro steel to ceramic bearings cuts about 1.5W of hub friction for around +$90; the BL300 54T ratchet (6.7° engagement) is already the fast-engagement option, while a wider 25mm internal bed or deeper rear adds about 60–100g and roughly +$70–100.

Recommended Use Cases
Road Racing: A 45mm front and 50mm rear wave section saves about 3.5W versus a 32mm rim at 40 km/h, while the wave width cuts steering torque about 25% at 10-15 degrees yaw.
Gran Fondo / Endurance: At 1400g with 24/24 straight-pull spokes and Enduro steel bearings, the set is built for all-day miles on modern 28mm-tyre disc frames.
Criterium: The 54T ratchet hub, 6.7 degrees engagement, stays responsive through corner-exit accelerations and roundabouts on city circuits.
All-Road Build: The 22mm internal bed runs 28-32mm tubeless; hooked or hookless options cover the wider-tyre trend on mixed-surface rides.
Not Recommended For: Time-trial depth extremes - 45/50mm is a road all-round aero compromise, not an 80mm-plus time-trial wheel.

FAQ
Will this wheelset bolt straight onto my Shimano groupset?
A Shimano HG freehub is fitted, so an HG cassette mounts directly; note at checkout if you run SRAM XD/XDR and we will fit the matching body.
What actually arrives in the box — rim tape, valves, spare spokes?
Each set ships tubeless-ready with rim tape, valve and spare spokes included, so you can mount tyres and add sealant without ordering anything extra.
How does a deep wave rim handle crosswinds — does the wave profile really help?
The wave-profile outer width (45mm front / 50mm rear) breaks lateral air vortices at 10°–15° yaw, cutting steering torque by about 25% versus a straight-profile rim of the same depth. High-speed descents stay planted.
Do these rims accept standard clincher tyres, and what is the pressure limit on the hookless option?
Hooked rims accept standard clincher tyres directly. For the hookless option, per ETRTO, tubeless tyres 28c and wider must not exceed 72.5 PSI (5.0 bar) to prevent unseating.
Will I really pay no customs or VAT for delivery to the US and EU?
Yes. The Economy channel ships DDP — duties and VAT are fully prepaid by us, cleared in advance, delivered to your door with no extra payment to customs or the courier.
